So… last month I put a $500 deposit down on the 13′ Scamp camper trailer pictured above. I had been thinking about it for several months, exploring many different camper and RV choices, and this one felt like the perfect fit for the adventure that’s calling me.
What adventure is that? You might be wondering. Well, I have the very strong desire to spend next winter in the desert working on some writing projects, meditating, reading and making the time and space to Be for a while… to come apart a bit so I can come back together anew.
The Past 8 Years in NYC…
It has been an absolutely wonderful eight years teaching yoga full time in NYC. I can’t believe how much has happened! I co-created and led a 200-hour teacher training with Yuuki Hirano of Dou Yoga for 4 years. I created two signature programs for Equinox Fitness clubs, traveled the world to teach them, along with acting as spokesperson and sometimes *model* for Regeneration for them. With my friend Simone we secured a publisher for our book Smitten: The Way of the Brilliant Flirt, which was published by Chronicle Books. We did live events and a radio tour. I laughed and cried and laughed again and again teaching classes and workshops for the wonderful community at Yoga Sole in Windsor Terrace. I completed Somatic Experiencing@ trauma resolution training. I taught and led trainings in anatomy and the nervous system for Prema Yoga Brookyn. I went on some pretty hilarious online dates. I made dozens of wonderful new friends. I got three nieces during this time(!). And so, so much more.
Now I feel like a very ripe fruit… so ripe that I’m about to fall from the tree and roll onward to something new… something as yet unwritten.
For those of you who have taken my classes, trainings and workshops over the years, thank you. You cannot possibly imagine how much it means to me. You have quite literally made my dreams come true. I am so full from the times we spent together. I am so warmed by your trust in me. I cannot possibly count the moments of incredible joy and belly-shaking laughter I had with you all.
And I’m not sure when/how I will be back, but I want to let you know my plans so that you can stay in touch if you like, and join in on my adventures if you like.
Plan for the Next Few Months
I will be teaching my regular classes until the end of May. During June and July I will be living in New Jersey taking care of my nieces after camp and teaching at Greenwich EQX on Saturdays for June. I’ll likely be in the city on the weekends drinking mocktails in summer dresses. In July I’ll be teaching at Nantucket Yoga Festival (July 12-14). In July I will also need to buy a used SUV that can pull the Scamp (LMK if you have any leads – I’m thinking Toyota 4-Runner).
In August I will go up to Vermont for 8 weeks to hang with my father, brother, and bestie Christyn (plus goddaughter Sage and niece Jane).
At the end of September I will be swinging through the Hudson Valley to co-teach a weekend immersion called BREAKTHROUGH with Aaron Dias.
In early October I will pick up the Scamp in the Minnesota Factory where it is being hatched and go to Ojai for a weekend learning summit with Jill Miller and Katy Bowman.
What I’ll Be Up to on the Road
From late October I’ll be cruising around Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, SoCal as a digital nomad. Staying on national forest land, hooking up with other digital nomad groups, making mediocre watercolors after meditating with lizards…
I’m going to have a pretty epic wifi booster system on the Scamp, in addition to solar panels and an overall strategy for minimal waste/maximal efficiency. So I can still stay in touch and work from the road while exploring what I really *need* (and don’t need) in this life…
I will continue to edit and manage the Tune Up Fitness blog.
I will also be launching my podcast “Learning to Dream” in the next couple weeks and will be broadcasting that from the road.
Plus, my financial realization work has only just begun. So I’ll continue doing educational posts and online classes about taking control of
Privately I have been coaching people in big life changes and breakthroughs. If you are interested in video coaching, be in touch!
Also it seems that there is some interest in this adventure from other companies, so I might be doing some writing for other places about this adventure. I’ll let you know 🙂
Also, FYI I’m going to try to do a weekly “Ariel View” note from the road. So if you want to follow along with that you should sign up for my LIST HERE Probably I will share some on Instagram too, so follow @arielkiley for pics of open roads, dusty towns, and who-knows-what-else?
Pics of Scampy!
For your viewing pleasure, here are some more images of the Scamp (or Scampy as I’ve been calling it…).
Cheers to closing a perfect old chapter, and opening an exciting new one… I hope to see you at classes, workshops, retreats and video stuff in the coming year…
